Benewah County Wildland-Urban Interface Wildfire Mitigation Plan Update 2012
The Benewah Board of County Commissioners initiated the Benewah County Wildland-Urban Interface Wildfire Mitigation Plan Update 2012. This plan was initially prepared in 2004. It was updated with the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan in 2005, then again in 2010 when the County completed the FEMA Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This update addresses several new data sources and a targeted evaluation of the County's risks to wildfires. This update uses new information from the County Assessor's office in combination with the resources and capabilities of the cooperators who came together to make this update possible.
Public review of this plan was conducted August 1 - 22, 2012. The multi-jurisdictional planning team met on August 22, in St. Maries, for the final planning team meeting and came to unanimous agreement to forward this plan on the the Mayors and the Board of County Commissioners for for their formal adoption. This updated plan serves as Bendewah Country's unified wildfire mitigation planning document.
